Sake Hokuso-san-yu

This is Hokuso-Sanyu, a sake from Washi-no-O in Iwate prefecture.(Web page)

A gentle liquor with a good balance of aroma, umami and sourness that does not feel overly gorgeous.

As you taste it like Nambu sembei, which is a typical souvenir of Iwate, you will gradually understand its deliciousness. And it was a rare sake that gives you a feeling of fullness when you drink it.

Many of the delicious sakes that have been used so far have tended to be sought after as they are drunk.

Still, it is good sake that does not remain the next day (lol), but this sake was satisfied and stopped when it was delicious.

Therefore, I thought it was a drinker-friendly sake.

By the way, "Hokuso-Sanyu" is a four-character idiom that appears in Bai Juyi's poems.

Sanyu refers to music instrument, sake, and poetry necessary for literary people.

However, when you look at the original poem, it's a story of a sloppy drinker.

今日北窓下

自問何所為

欣然得三友

三友者為誰

琴罷輙擧酒

酒罷輙吟詩

三友逓相引

循環無已時

(Under the north window, I'm free, so if I was wondering what to do, there would be San-yu.

San-yu plays music, drinks, and sings poetry.

Do it endlessly around those three. ) (Private translation)

From the perspective of Bai Juyi, it seems that getting a feeling of fullness and stopping there is still inexperience.

I will open new sake and practice today :-)
